Playing Online Craps
Craps is the noisiest game at the casino and it attracts the most attention. The tables look complex, but when you begin playing it is actually quite very easy. The key to craps is to play the areas with the best odds.
Playing for Beginners
When playing for the first time try betting $5 on the pass line which should be right in front of you. The pass line is the area that runs on the outside of the table. This is called the 'come-bet'. The first throw of the dice is called the 'come-out-roll'. On the come-out-roll, you and the shooter hope for a 7 or 11 to show. When this happens you win! If, however, 2, 3, or 12 show then you lose. These numbers are known as 'craps' and essentially you 'crap-out'. If any other number such as 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, comes out then a 'pass-line-point' is established. Now the shooter rolls again and must try to get the pass-line-point number. If he does then you win but only if the number shows up before 7 does. If a 7 shows up then you lose, the hand is over, and the dice move on to the next player.
Now, playing the pass-line is very favorable for the player. It is especially favorable because you have the option of playing an additional bet if the shooter throws a pass-line-point number. If the shooter throws a point then you should place $10 directly behind your $5 original bet. This is called a 'free-odds' bet. This is a good bet because the house edge is zero. Note that this bet is not advertised at all on the table. It is so good for the player and bad for the house.
This style of play is recommended and you can play all day and be successful. You can be the shooter, throw the dice, and just have fun. Be sure to bet the pass line and the free odds bet. You are now a craps player!
Bets to Avoid
The pass-line bet in combination with the pass-line-point bet is one of the best wagers in the casino. You can play with this strategy all day long if you wish. There are other bets on the craps table that you should avoid. Avoid all Hardways bet in the middle of the table. You should also avoid the Big 6 and the Big 8 area. Just look at the percentage tables above and you will see how big the advantage is for the house.
Craps Game
The second best online casino bet a bettor can make at an online casino is to bet on the pass line/come with odds at the online craps table. The casino advantage on this bet is a low, low .85% to 1.41%. Remember the lower the odds the greater the theoretical chance a player can win big and the less likely chance for him to lose.
The majority of craps players will wager on the pass line rather than the don't pass line. The reason for this is that in a brick-and-mortar casino, the pass line is so popular the betting area for making this bet runs all around the layout. So wherever you stand around the craps the table you may place this bet.
You must make your wager on the pass prior to the initial roll of a shooter or dice thrower. The first roll is known as the come-out roll and you 'll always know when it's a come-out roll by observing the position of the on/off dice located at the top of the craps layout. If the disc shows ON and is located in a box with a number 4, 5, 8, 9, or 10, then the next roll is NOT a come-out roll. You'll have to wait for the next game in progress to end, at which time the dealer will turn the disc, sometimes called a puck, over to the off position and place it in the don't come area of the layout. If you see this, then and only then should you make your pass line wager. If the come-out throw is a 7 or 11, known as a natural, you win the pass line bet. IF instead a 2, 3, or 12 appear you lose.
